A career with unlimited potential.
We offer a unique combination of unlimited earning potential, award-winning training and real work/life balance – all at the #1 wholesale lender in the country and one of the nation’s fastest-growing privately owned companies. Self-confident, knowledgable, goal-oriented and with an uncompromising desire to be the best, our sales team is the engine that has powered our success. And there’s no looking back. Our 100% inside Account Executives receive 200+ hours of training prior to making their first call (plus 300 hours of training each year thereafter), work a firm 40-hour week and earn generous commissions — all without cold-calling. Impossible? Not when your business relies on building relationships instead of transactions.
Smarter apps, built from the ground up.
Our proprietary technology has revolutionized the mortgage
industry. From the creation of breakthrough platforms like EASE (the Easiest Application System Ever) and UClose to the development of high-visibility support systems and mobile apps, our IT Team is made up of visionaries whose creative thinking plays a crucial role in our company’s growth. And the coolest part? We build everything from the ground up. With our technology, training and mentoring, our IT Team rivals anything coming out of Silicon Valley. It’s part of the reason United Shore is included in the Housing Wire 2016 Tech 100.
Marrying the science of underwriting with the art of client service.
You don’t get to be the best by letting things slip through the cracks. We’re looking for a kind of superhero: perfectionists who can double as private investigators, legal aids, client service specialists, help desk consultants and troubleshooters. Each of our clients has a dedicated team of these private eyes, who not only check every detail of the loan, but have the knowledge and authority to speak directly to brokers. Super powers a little lacking? Don’t worry. Our trainers will give you the skills to hit the ground running with the classes on the latest guidelines, lending policies, documentation and our detailed procedures.
Leaving big impressions with last stop of the loan
There’s something satisfying about bringing successful closure to a process as complicated as a home loan. It’s like the final leg of a relay race. Our Closers win over clients and borrowers because they’re perfectionists who love beating deadlines, and because our relationships, technology and training are the best in the business. By being able to talk with brokers directly and taking control of paperwork, insurance, deposits, appraisals, dates and other important details, our Closers offer an unprecedented level of assurance that there will be no surprises at the closing table.
At United Shore, our people are our greatest asset.
At United Shore, our people are our greatest asset. So we have a whole team dedicated to making sure our people are happy, productive, and growing in their jobs. The Engagement Team handles a wide range of tasks – planning and promoting company events, creating and managing charitable efforts, welcoming new hires, listening to our team members’ brilliant ideas (and helping them get implemented), and managing UZone, our company’s project management system and social network. Keeping our team members happy is an important job. If you’re a ray of sunshine, beam on in – you’re just what the engagement team is looking for.
We crunch numbers, big numbers.
With more than $13 billion in annual closings in 2015, United Shore’s finances take on extreme dimensions. The story is the same with our Accounting Team. As one of the fastest-growing privately held companies in America, we’re expanding exponentially in standard accounting areas like accounts payable, analysis, treasury and forecasting as well as specialized functions like loan accounting and sales, mortgage servicing rights, warehouse processing and loan covenant compliance. Follow the housing market? The Finance Team is also responsible for monitoring and managing for market swings. Throw away the green visor and roll up your sleeves — it’s a dynamic industry and an even more dynamic company.
Ever vigilant in a constantly evolving industry.
Complying with the mortgage industry’s ever-changing rules means that our legal team needs to be extra vigilant — not only to ensure regulations are carefully followed, but to stay ahead of the competition when legislative changes create opportunities to innovate. Turning regulations from an impediment to a business advantage takes constant education and the ability to pass knowledge to all our team members through training. Staying on top also means managing licenses and litigation, protecting intellectual property, handling audits, reviewing contracts, performing control testing on loan files and translating everything into plain English for our clients.
We love telling our story.
Our brand is the heart and soul of our company — and the Marketing Team, with its strategists, artists, writers and videographers, is its caretaker. Together they are responsible for our brand’s personality through our web sites, social media, blogs, broker events, sponsorships, PR, advertising and internal communications. As a source of ideas that fuel innovation and growth, the Marketing Team is constantly refining its message — to draw and retain the best talent, to reinforce our culture internally and to tell our success story to brokers and the industry at large. And they do it better, with more style, with more pride and enjoy it more than anyone else in the industry.
The team that keeps it all running smoothly.
Perhaps the most diverse group of any, our Operations/Administration Team, is made up of people who know how to get things done. Nitpickers … double-checkers … multitaskers …problem solvers … technical or analytical specialists whose skills can be applied across disciplines. Sought-after, acknowledged and rewarded, they help make the engine of success run smoothly through the knowledge they bring or by learning the business from the ground up. From Lending Support to Broker Administration and from Client Services to Facilities their roles are essential. Then there’s Pronto, our solutions-focused client services supergroup made up of experts from every discipline. Much more than a help desk, they provide a level of service, support and guidance that goes far beyond any other lender.
Our people are our greatest asset.
Being the best and brightest is one thing. Recognizing it is another. Our Talent Team not only needs to identify genius, they need to discover the skilled, the motivated, the determined, the charismatic, the leaders and the loyal, often before the candidate themselves understand what would make them great team members. We see potential in others, embrace diversity and appreciate the often quirky and often big personalities that are attracted to this business. We are passionate about attending career fairs, conducting interviews and rolling out the red carpet for the best candidates, then watching their careers soar in one of the coolest, fastest-growing companies in the mortgage industry.
We support the journey to excellence.
The 30+ full-time trainers at United Shore have the combined skills of college professors and basketball coaches: knowledge of their subject, a motivational personality and the ability to communicate verbally and visually across media. It’s a full-time job for so many because continuous improvement is such a key element to our success. Our Account Executives, for example, get 200 hours of training before they make their first client call, then 300 hours per year thereafter. In recognition of excellence in team member-sponsored training and development, and with a goal of 36,000 hours of training in 2016, United Shore was selected winner of the 2016 Training Top 125 award by Training Magazine.
We turn risks into advantages
Our primary line of defense, the Risk Team makes sure we are bringing in the right loans. This starts with a thorough approval process for Brokers, Banks, and Credit Unions to become Business Partners. Considering all the complex and important documentation involved in the loan transaction process, it is also important to have team members dedicated to verifying the accuracy of loan information and monitoring suspicious activity. The stringent quality control measures, from pre-closing to post-closing, ensure our high industry standards are upheld.
"Nobody likes the mortgage. They want to buy the house," said Mat Ishbia, CEO of United Wholesale Mortgage in Troy.
But Ishbia said many millennials could benefit from researching their mortgage options first before shopping for a home.
He noted that the Fannie Mae HomeReady program only requires 3% down for creditworthy low- to moderate-income borrowers. The Freddie Mac Home Possible programs can require 3% or 5% down, depending on the program, for low- to moderate-income buyers or buyers in high-cost or underserved communities.
